2026
I have always had a fascination with postcards. As a kid, I remember asking my parents to buy me one or two from museum gift shops. It was the only thing we could afford at the time, so I held onto them dearly. I’d write letters to future me on the back of them and then stick it onto my walls. They became my outlet to write what I was too afraid to say out loud.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of traveling for work, and on these trips I like to buy postcards to write a letter to friends and family back home.
In the fall of 2025, I had a residency in NYC. I only brought what I could in a suitcase, which meant that my supplies were very limited. With no money or space to acquire larger canvases and additional paint supplies, I turned to the next best ting i could afford: 10 for $1 postcards in time square. Heartbroken, homesick, and deeply depressed, I turned to oil painting, the one thing i know will always bring me pure joy.
