RED TAPE

Install Shots
Description

A huge part of my artistic practice/artistic philosophy, is the idea that I must not be afraid to take up space (both physically and intagibly). The color red has become my tool to take up morespace visually, even if the work is small in comparison.

As an homage to my red line makeup, I place red gaffers tape along the floor. Starting from the front door of the museum and concluding at the entrance to the gallery. It was my attempt to take up more physical space than I had originally been aloted.

This performace/installation was immedietly requested to be taken down. Within 5 minutes of the tape being placed, someone from the institution took a photo and demanded the tape be removed. Their reasoning: the museum was rented out for a wedding and the red would interfere with the aesthetics of the wedding.

I found it ironic that 1) someone would rent out an art museum and be upset  to see art in the space and 2) that the museum would actually comply to their demands and request the artist to remove work.

Truck Colision

Install Shots
Description

In continuation with my ice blocks performance, the idea was to install a truck outside of the musuem and have it appear as though it had crashed into the museum. Ice blocks would be placed in the driver’s and passanger’s seat.

The goal was to make a strong political message for everyone to see.

This project was proposed in February, and after many back and forth exchanges with the museum, the agreed to have the piece be displayed on the night of the reception (October 1st, 2026). With this agreement I proceeded to purchase a truck and pay to have the vehiclebe transported.

Monday night (September 28th) just a few days before the reception the museum asked me not to move forward with the installation for fear of casuing an actual accident. There was no budge from the museum or city as the timeline to get proper permits was too close.
